Jim Reed, Owner & Lead Designer
Jim Reed currently serves as director of bands at Rockvale Middle School in Rockvale, TN. He is a 1998 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin and in December 2010, was awarded a Master of Music degree with honor from Austin Peay State University.
While at UTM, he served as drum captain and field commander, where his duties included arranging for the drumline, designing the indoor drumline shows, and assisting in the drill design for the marching band. Aside from his school responsibilities, it was at this time that he began his design & arranging career - first writing for high school drumlines, then branching out to include other ensembles.
In developing JReed Show Designs, Mr. Reed has been a sought-after arranger and drill designer for many high school bands across the state of Tennessee and has clients in Texas, South Carolina, Virginia, Arizona, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania. He is also a staff percussion arranger for Arrangers’ Publishing Company, a national band publishing house based in Nashville, and recently had a percussion piece published with Row-loff Publishing in Nashville.
Mr. Reed is a former marching member of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps where he marched in the snare line, and he is also a founder and charter member of the Music City Legend Drum & Bugle Corps. Mr. Reed has in the past served as program coordinator, drill designer, percussion arranger, and Assistant Executive Director for the corps.
Before coming to Rockvale in 2022, Mr. Reed was the director of bands at Station Camp High School in Gallatin, TN, where he led the symphonic band, jazz band, indoor percussion, chamber ensembles, and the award-winning Thundering Herd marching band. Mr. Reed has formerly taught at Portland West Middle & High Schools, East Robertson High School, Goodpasture High School, and Rucker-Stewart Middle School.
